Before You Go.
A short checklist and a handful of trusted resources to help you head out prepared.
Pack Plenty Of Water.
A liter every two hours is a sensible starting point. Bring more in heat or at altitude.
Running low on a trail is the fastest way to turn a good day into a bad one.
Check The Weather.
Mountain weather shifts fast. Look at the forecast the morning of, not the day before.
If the sky changes, turn around. The trail will be there next weekend.
Wear The Right Gear.
Trail shoes with grip, layers you can shed, a hat, and sunscreen.
The trail tells you what you forgot. Better to figure it out before you leave the trailhead.
Leave A Note. Tell A Friend.
Stick a note somewhere visible at home (fridge, front door) with your trailhead, route, and the time you expect to be back.
Then text the same to a friend who isn't on the hike. Phone batteries die — a friend who knows where you are is the cheapest piece of safety gear there is.
Trusted Resources.
Starting points, not endorsements. Always cross-check with the land manager for the trail you're hiking.
Trail Conditions
Hike Smart. Hike Safe.
Traildek is a planning aid, not a guide service. Conditions change — verify your route, your weather, and your gear before you head out.
